Hello, I have added a Team Chat Forum to the website. I am hoping that everyone will enjoy and participate in this new feature.

Hi my name is Annette. I started this team 25 years ago, it's our anniversary this year. Back then we where called Titanic after the blockbuster movie had just been release. In 1998, we really did not have a clue how to paddle, steer or drum, and we even flipped the boat. So I made it my mission to learn this sport and bring it to Hamilton. This journey also become my personal journey, winning many medals in local, national and international competitions. I was asked to join a Toronto womens team who had dreams of representing Canada as a Club Crew. After much training together for over a year, we had to race off nationally with other womens teams from Montreal, British Columbia and Toronto in Welland. We won. We were going to Rome, Italy in September! A few months before we were to leave, in July we found out that we could also enter a mens team, we scrambled to find a team of men. I had the opportunity to invite a few Titan men to join in. There were many hurdles to overcome, the men had injuries (strained ribs, broken arms, legs etc.). Some of the men only got to practice a few times. It was not ideal, but we got there. The women were strong. We won Gold in the 500 m and Silver in the 250 m! Paddling for 15 years on A level teams in Toronto, TRI (known as Big Fish) Air Canada Jetstart, Toronto Masters (known as Quicksilver), had made me a well seasoned team mate. Then I tried many of the other types of paddling water sports; rowing, war canoe, marathon canoe, kayak, C1, OC1, OC2, OC6. I competed in the World Master Games in Edmonton, winning a Bronze Medal for Canada. I found myself traveling to other parts of the world, competiting, paddling and coaching. Then I had another great adventure, as I was asked to paddled with a team of very exceptional women in NYC where we had the fastest time (1:57 for 500 m) of all teams at the event. What a privilege that was! breaking the 2:00 minute mark was for sure a highlight. Now in 2023, we continue with my vision, to bring Dragonboat to Hamilton, by starting a womens team and building up the Titans Community.
